What kind of group is the Arlington Camera Club?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Arlington Camera Club (\u201cACC\u201d) was founded in 1988 by local residents who shared an interest in photography. The purpose of the Club is to increase photographic skills through meetings, programs, workshops, field trips, and critique sessions. The Club is a not-for-profit Illinois corporation and is not associated with any business entity.<\/p>\n

What is CACCA?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Chicago Area Camera Club Association (CACCA) is open to all camera clubs located in the Chicago Area, including Wisconsin and Indiana, that wish to actively participate in CACCA activities. ACC Club members can volunteer to participate at CACCA meetings and may submit qualifying Club member images for CACCA competitions. \u00a0caccaphoto.org<\/a><\/p>\n

What is PSA?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Photographic Society of America is a national organization open to individual membership and club participation. Arlington Camera Club has a PSA representative and many Club\u00a0members are also PSA members. PSA offers a monthly magazine, photo and digital competitions, study groups via email and the internet, how-to programs, an annual conference, and a raft of other activities and services. psa-photo.org<\/a><\/p>\n

Who can participate in competitions and critique nights?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Only Club members can compete. However, prospective members and guests are welcome to attend. Members are encouraged to participate in competitions and critiques which are aimed at helping them improve their photography skills.<\/p>\n

What additional activities are offered?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Club meetings include presentations and workshops. Travels and events include field trips to learn and shoot, documenting community activities, and social gatherings. Competition rules, tips, etc. are discussed at meetings.<\/p>\n

How often are competitions held?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The \u201cACC Club Year\u201d runs from September through May. Regular competitions for Prints and Digital Projected Images (DPI) in Color and Monochrome are held four times per year: October, December, February, and April. Competitions are held at scheduled Wednesday night meetings.<\/p>\n

Do I need to have an expensive professional camera to be a club member or to enter competitions?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

No. Many Club members use all types of cameras and mobile phones.\u00a0 In fact, we have had presentations on how to improve mobile phone photography. Members are eager to share their experiences and tips with all types of cameras and phones.<\/p>\n

How can I apply for membership in the Club?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Club\u2019s \u201cMembership Application\u201d is available from our website and can also be requested at a meeting.<\/p>\n

What is the experience level of members?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Membership is open to all age groups, teens through retirees. No experience is necessary \u2013 our purpose is to help you learn and improve. Our members have various levels of expertise and are eager to share information, teach, and help new members.<\/p>\n

Do I have to participate in club committees?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Your participation is strongly encouraged, but you may want to wait until you have some ACC club experience for certain committees.<\/p>\n
